Episode 6
"Spain and Iceland" (08.06.2017)

The Wall / Eastwatch-by-the-Sea

Jon, Davos, Jorah and Gendry arrive by boat in Eastwatch-by-the-Sea. They get joined by Tormund as well as by the Hound, Beric and Thoros (who were imprisoned at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea).

  • [Jon], "Davos, Jorah and Gendry take a skiff to Eastwatch-On-The-Sea, where Tormund is manning. He has The Hound, Beric and Thoros in the Dungeon - they've been heading north too (following the 'Lord of Light's command that Beric has got into his head)."

  • "When they arrive at Eastwatch Tormund takes them to the cells - he has captured Thoros, Beric and The Hound just South of the Wall heading North and isn't sure what to do with them.
Jon offers to let them come with them after they tell him the Red God wants them to go beyond the wall. Gendry isn't too keen on this though, he hasn't forgiven them for shipping him off with Melisandre."

  • [Jon and Gendry] "have a quick fun scene about how their fathers were friends. "The bastard of Winterfell and the bastard of King's Landing". Gendry seems to enjoy meeting again someone his father had some connection with. Doesn't mention Arya though, which is a bit odd. Maybe that gets covered in a rewrite."

Winterfell

Littlefinger schemes against Arya and Sansa and tries to create a confrontation between the Stark sisters.

  • [PM to xOx_D-Targ6969_oXo]: "Littlefinger sees that Arya is dangerous and doesn't have a power agenda - it's hard to manipulate people like that for him, so he uses the letter he retrieves from the archives to make Arya doubt that Sansa would ever truly support Jon - Arya then accuses Sansa of wanting to be the true leader in the North. He never directly tells Arya anything by the way - he makes sure that she sees him with the letter, then 'hides' it in his room for her to find."

  • [PM to xOx_D-Targ6969_oXo]: "The letter was about their father -
"Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert's brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and providing me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King's Landing, swear featly to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark."
So yeah, that's what ruffled Arya."

North of the Wall

Big fight with the army of the dead: Thoros is killed by a wight polar bear, a wight is captured. Dany shows up with her dragons and saves most of the party, but Vyserion gets killed by the Night King. Jon stays back fighting and is saved by Benjen who gives him his horse to escape.

  • "Jon goes North to capture an Undead - Dany goes too."

  • "So he takes the Hound, Beric, Thoros and Tormund (yes, it's another VERY fast hike north in Westoros, they like those in the show) to capture an Undead. They succeed, but Thoros bites it, and Dany has to come to the rescue at the last minute - during the battle the Night's King kills Viserion as well, so it's a costly affair."

  • [Beric is] "going die at the hands of White Walkers, which means Thoros will only have 1 life left." [Obviously he mixed up the two names.]

  • [Daenerys] "she watches him fighting on an island against the Undead North of the Wall. Jon carries on fighting long after the others have escaped the horde, and she is flying above providing air support."

  • [Benjen will] make a quick appearance in the next season.

  • "Viserious will die at the Night King's hand and be reborn as his mount."

  • [PM to KaySen762]: "Polar Bear is before wight army attack. Thoros dies overnight and is just left behind."

  • "From the script some 'non-descript' brotherhood go through the passage with the rest of the party (the named cast and some wildlings). Wight-fodder, obviously."

  • "The script just about mentions some wildlings and brothers. But none get lines. They mostly just die."

  • [PM to KaySen762]: "Dany only goes North out of concern for Jon (and Jorah obv). After the bear attack Jon gets Gendry to run back to Eastwatch and send a Raven to Dany to let her know what's happened. After she receives it she leaves impulsively to go find them. Tyrion thinks this is a bad idea, but she doesn't listen."

  • [PM to KaySen762]: "Script also mentions a WILDLING TRACKER at the front of the party so there's your other person. And he gets killed by the bear (you need a red shirt, otherwise how will we know there's a threat, right?)"

  • "Everyone gets on Drogon bar Jon, who is left for dead but escapes on Benjen's horse after he rides in at the last minute."

  • [Why is Jon left?] "Not on purpose at all, he just gets left behind due to the overwhelming size of the Wight forces."

  • [PM to KaySen762]: "We won’t see Beric and Gendry after that episode (6), or at least they aren’t mentioned. The script says at the end of that episode The Hound heads south with the captive Wight in a box, and Beric follows him. Beric isn’t in Episode 7 though."

  • [PM to mad_king_monix about how the wights get the dead dragon out of the lake]: "Big heavy chains. Literally, that's pretty much what the script says."

  • [PM to maureencreates]: "Jon falls when trying to climb onto Drogon and appears to sink under the lake, so it looks like he's a goner."

  • [PM to whitewalker2]: [The wight they catch is] "just a rando wight."

  • [PM to whitewalker2]: "The go via boat up the east coast to Eastwatch on the Wall and go through there. Davos waits there while a party of Jon, Jorah, Beric, Thoros, The Hound and Gendry go Wight hunting. Most of that episode is concerned with catching the Wight and then defending themselves from NK's army. Oh, and there will be a battle with a Wight Polar Bear. This is what kills Thoros (although he takes hours to die). They get surrounded on an island on a frozen lake, and are nearly overcome when Dany and her dragons show up. She flies everyone bar Jon back to Eastwatch - he gets left behind, and is almost killed when Coldhands/Benjen arrives and sends him off on his horse while he fights the horde. Jon sees Benjen become swamped by the wights as he rides to safety half-dead."

  • [PM to whitewalker2]: "During this battle NK throws an ice spear at Viserion, bringing him down at the lake."

  • [PM to andretosatti]: [Dany] "sees the Undead, but she doesn't have an army with her, just the dragons."

  • [PM to whitewalker2]: "The Hound, Jorah, Tormund (and the captured wight) get out on Drogon. Gendry is asked to run back to Eastwatch Just before they battle the Wight Army. Jon rides back on Coldhand's horse."

  • [PM to whitewalker2]: "Jon and co get into a battle with a wight polar bear. This is what kills Thoros, although it takes him hours to die."

  • [PM to maureencreates]: "It's a bit wrong - the team Jon leands north of the wall is in Episode 6, not 5. This is also where Viserion dies and Dany rescues them."

  • [PM to xOx_D-Targ6969_oXo]: "The island [Jon is fighting on against the wights] is in the middle of a frozen lake. The NK is there, and it's here that he kills Viserion, who falls in to the lake dead."

  • [4chan leaker]: "the wight bear bitch slaps jon and hes pretty useless for the rest of the fight, 'azor ahai' doesnt even get a fire sword even though both beric and thoros have one, its pretty pathetic"

  • [4chan leaker]: "they're not even really on an island. They're like by the edge of the water on pack ice and the dragons make it worse by melting away a lot of it. [...] I think the dragons melt away the ice around them as they burn up the wights."

Dragonstone (or Eastwatch-by-the-Sea?)

Back in Dragonstone (or Eastwatch-by-the-Sea?), Jon and Daenerys have a private meeting. For her promise to support the fight against the White Walkers, Jon pledges to Daenerys.

  • "Jon's plans this season are entirely focused around protecting the North from the undead army and doing whatever he can to persuade Dany and Cersei to assist in that battle."

  • [Jon] "doesn't submit to give up KITN title until Episode 6. It isn't as important to him as persuading Dany to fight with the North against Undead."

  • "She's more than happy to let Jon be 'Warden' of the North, like Ned. She just doesn't want anyone else with designs on Royalty knocking about, which makes sense."

  • "I'm not sure any ruler of Westeros really cares about the Iron Islands - they don't produce anything, and they're sparsely populated by grumpy blokes. Who cares? The north though has the largest population and is the biggest chunk of Westeros. Of course she wants it. It's probably a good bit of the agriculture too, come to think of it."

  • "At the end of Episode 6 she will check on him after the Wight Hunt nearly kills him, and she is also seeking comfort after losing Viserion. They have an intimate moment, but it's not physical so much as emotional - they are vulnerable around each other. Nothing physical will happen until the end of Ep 7 when Jon goes a knocking on her cabin door…"

  • "Jon is naked, he's recovering from having just nearly died. He's recovering from the Wight attack and being submerged in an icy lake. She's come in to where he is convalescing."

  • "It's all the same scene. She comes to see how he is, then breaks down with grief. It's about 3/4 pages long, which is about 3/4 minutes, so it's a decent length to cover a few different things."

  • [Later, Daenerys does not tell anybody about Jon "pledging" to her in episode 6] "and it's not explained why, but I'd guess she has strong feelings for him by that point and is unsure if she even wants him to 'kneel' to her. He's the one who comforts her over Viserion dying and she stays with him while he heals from the same incident."

  • [PM to whitewalker2]: "It's while he's recovering and comforting Dany over the loss of Viserion that he pledges himself to her."

  • [PM to ???]: "At the point he says hell bend the knee to her he's kind of realised that being King isn't that important if you're King of a dead country. He needs her help to protect his people, and there's an argument to be had with Sansa and his lords further down the line, but thats not going to be dealt with this season."

  • [PM to ???]: [It's in episode 6] "where Jon (privately) pledges to Dany."

Winterfell

Sansa sends Brienne to represent her in the Dragonpit meeting.

  • [PM to maureencreates]: "Brienne leaves Winterfell to travel to Kings Landing to represent Sansa at the Dragonpit meeting. (this happens after Sansa gets a Raven from Kings Landing asking her to join the meeting requested by Dany and Jon)."

  • [PM to farmatwnzwwn]: [About Brienne at the Dragonpit]:"You know what. You're absolutely right. I forgot she was there. I've just checked and Sansa sends her on her behalf to represent the interests of Winterfell, which I think is because she isn't entirely convinced that Jon is thinking about The North. She agrees to go because she knows Jaime will be there, so she believes she will be safe - she believes him to be an honorable man."

North of the Wall

Last scene: Vyserion gets reanimated by the Night King.

  • [PM to xOx_D-Targ6969_oXo]: "The island [Jon is fighting on against the wights] is in the middle of a frozen lake. The NK is there, and it's here that he kills Viserion, who falls in to the lake dead. At the end of that episode he's reanimated."

  • [PM to whitewalker2]: "During this battle NK throws an ice spear at Viserion, bringing him down at the lake. The last scene us the wights dragging the dead dragon from the lake and NK reanimating him."
